Hi, I’m Andrew.
Thanks for dropping by. I’m a content designer, UX writer, and content strategist with substantial experience in SEO.
After five years in marketing I transitioned to design, which has led me to UX in the financial product space.
I love writing and systems thinking. This makes me ideal for small design teams, content system projects, and solo writing assignments.
Content with strategy and heart
I spent my early career in digital marketing, where I learned to integrate content marketing effectively with SEO and PPC advertising. Now I’ve transitioned to content design in the UX field, although I’m known to craft a content marketing strategy now and again.
Andrew was one of the first content designers to work with our team. He didn’t just improve our UX writing, though. After tackling a highly technical project working closely with our engineering team, he pivoted quickly to support one of the company’s biggest initiatives.
He centralized and standardized our team’s product language, enabling our design team to build with stronger systems-level thinking across multiple surfaces. The team gained a way to manage that language as it evolved, too.
Andrew also took the initiative to do a lot of qualitative research about our product’s users. He created a research deck that showed multiple design teams how our user base operated on a daily and quarterly basis, as well as pointing out new roles we needed to accommodate in our redesign (each with their own needs, permission levels, and workflows).
It was genuinely helpful to have someone who refined our information architecture and who understood how concepts fit together across multiple surfaces, user groups, and workflows.
Andrew is an incredibly capable and thoughtful content designer. In addition to consistently producing top-notch work, he was an amazing teammate. He communicates clearly, keeps priorities on track, and is focused on producing work that delivers. He collaborated with teams across the board on various projects and also on ways to improve processes and craft. Andrew brings a growth and big picture mindset to all aspects of the job and we were lucky to have him on our team.
My thoughts on UX and content design
Some of them are even worth writing about.
The crisis of Content Design
"What's going on with Content Design right now?" We've all heard our colleagues discuss this in the last few years. It takes a few forms: "We aren't taken seriously." "We're not called on until the last minute." "Why do we get laid off first?" "There are no job for...
How I became a content designer (or UX writer)
I never thought of myself as any kind of designer. If you’d asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up, I would have said “video game journalist.” With a background in history I never expected to work in the tech industry, either. Yet now I’ve worked for two...
What is a UX content strategist?
A “UX content strategist,” more commonly called a “staff content designer,” is a fairly new user experience role, evolving alongside UX writing as a major component of the content design discipline. It can be a role on its own, but most commonly it just represents a...

Content design vs. content strategy: know the difference
Trying to understand content design vs. content strategy after a confusing look through job boards? Good news: I've done both, so I can tell you the key differences between them. Companies often interchange and merge these two phrases, but they are different. You only...

BMO
The Bank of Montreal brought me on to help them build content design system standards, processes for their enterprise CMS, and a fresh perspective on their UX practice.
Meta
Meta recruited me as a content designer to improve the internal tools that power sales and support operations for tens of thousands of employees pushing advertising solutions every month.
Shopify
I joined Shopify as a content designer to promote its logistics and fulfillment service. I worked with product UX and marketing teams to create a cohesive experience experience across the app and everything related to it.
Working with Andrew, you know you’re going to get quality above all else. Beyond being a great writer and editor, he’s incredibly intentional in everything he does. He doesn’t cut corners and he’ll fight to put the customer first when decisions are being made about content and campaigns. A great collaborator I’d be happy to work with any time.

I love talking shop over a cup of coffee, even if you just want a second opinion on something.
