Website Project: LMS Homes

Project Highlights

Brand-New Website

I helped Lisa choose a template on Squarespace so that she could hit the ground running with her new look, and then update it easily on her own in the future. We infused it with an approachable tone and LGBTQ-friendly messaging to set her apart from the rest of Guelph’s real estate agents.

Local Cornerstone Content

More than just an outlet for design, websites should also generate and convert traffic. I wrote a gigantic guide for first-time home buyers in Guelph to do just that. The guide ranks on page 1 of Google’s search results for our longtail keyword, and it has helped to close the deal on several sales within months.

Lead Generation Mechanisms

I set up the website to capture interested leads at every step of the Customer Journey, especially with the content. Lisa’s website answers leads’ home-buying questions in their hour of need, then facilitates contact for them to get deeper answers right away from Lisa herself.

Creating my own website seemed so daunting! I honestly didn’t know where to start. Finding the right person to help me with it was even more stressful!

When I met Andrew, my stress went away almost instantly. He explained why websites are important, key things I should have, and really helped me understand SEO. Putting together a website is a task and with my busy schedule it seemed impossible. Andrew took over creating my website, the design and layout are beautiful and works well for my business. He even helped me create an amazing guide that has really increased traffic to my website.

He went above and beyond, I am glad I am working with Andrew! Not only do you have great taste and an amazing design but your personal touch makes a difference.

Thank you so much for everything!

The Project Results

Lisa took the website and ran with it, putting herself on the industry’s radar in short order. Colleagues loved the website as much as clients. Lisa leveraged the website to expand into selling higher-end homes in neighbouring cities, and now she uses the cornerstone content as a part of her onboarding process.

Lessons in Building a Website Business (While They’re Still Fresh)

I used to dream about becoming an editor, but I've never really been one to keep my finger on the pulse of pop culture and politics enough to supervise opinion pieces. However, finding several niche topics and connecting them for my own understanding has always been...

This is when it’s time to stop worshipping the brand

We tend to worship brand fidelity above all else, but this can become a detriment to marketing campaigns when success takes a backseat to a mentality of “colouring inside the lines.” The truth is that brands can’t just fit into a box these days. Not online, anyway....

Why clients can’t dictate agency processes

I’ve worked with at least 8 different agencies as an external consultant, both inside the agency and on the client side too. In that time I’ve noticed some things that stuck out as bad ideas. Some pride themselves on tailoring everything to the client’s needs. Others...

Marketing to Generation X: they don’t care, but you should.

Nobody really writes about marketing to Generation X, but they’re actually one of the most important demographics out there at the moment. Comprising 25% of the population, yet responsible for 30% of spending, Gen X has reached the peak of its career arc—but also...
